JP Duminy appointed Paarl Royals head coach

Former Proteas all-rounder JP Duminy was confirmed on Thursday as the SA20 franchise Paarl Royals head coach ahead of the inaugural edition of Cricket South Africa's officially sanctioned league.

The Royals Sports Group's latest overseas franchise, Paarl Royals, revealed their coaching staff for their SA20 franchise, with the tournament scheduled to get under way in January.

Duminy, who played 46 Tests, 199 ODIs and 81 T20Is for South Africa, has had some coaching stints, serving as a strategic consultant for the Proteas during last year's T20 World Cup and also as a batting consultant for the domestic side, Lions.

"I have always had a very close connection with Paarl, having played plenty of my cricket at Boland Park, and hence it's an honour for me to have been appointed as the Head Coach of the Paarl Royals," said Duminy in a press release.

"It is an exciting time for everyone associated with South African cricket and I'm really looking forward to working with some exceptional international and local players. The shared knowledge and experience in the dressing room is what I'm most excited about and having the privilege to facilitate and unlock our abilities together with my coaching/management staff."

Joining Duminy in his coaching team is Titans coach Mandla Mashimbyi, who will serve as the fast bowling coach.

South Africa's cricketing coaching circuit as Richard Das Neves, who represented Gauteng during his playing days as a bowling all-rounder, and will be shouldering the duties of Strategy and Spin Bowling Coach for the Paarl Royals.

Former Australian women's cricketer and current England women's coach Lisa Keightley
