Journalists say Guimaraes was ‘rarely troubled’ v Burnley
Newcastle United pulled off an impressive away win at Burnley on Sunday afternoon, winning 2-1 at Turf Moor, and Bruno Guimaraes was one of many players who shone. The 24-year-old started alongside Joelinton and Sean Longstaff in midfield and turned over possession effectively.
One Newcastle player made more tackles, no player blocked more shots, no player won more freekicks, only one player completed a higher percentage of passes, only one player had more touches and only one player had more shots on target, so journalists were full of praise for his contribution.
Dominic Scurr of the Shields Gazette gave Guimaraes a player rating of 7/10 and said he was ‘rarely troubled’ on the ball. Scurr hailed the midfielder’s ball-winning exploits too.
Max Parsons of 90min gave the Brazilian a player rating of 8/10, saying he was ‘composed’ on the ball and controlled the midfield. Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live gave him a player rating of 7/10, calling him ‘slick and efficient’.
Against Burnley, Guimaraes played for 90 minutes, had 60 touches, completed 86.5% of his 37 passes, had two shots which both hit the target, found a teammate with five of his six long-range balls, made four tackles, blocked one shot, had one clearance and won two freekicks.
