Journalist now reveals five signings Spurs want to make

Antonio Conte has three main areas to address at Tottenham Hotspur over the course of the summer transfer window.

That is according to the Spurs correspondent, Charlie Eccleshare, who was speaking on the latest episode of The Athletic Football Podcast.

Spurs are now in pole position to land the final spot in the top four as the race for Champions League qualification saw Spurs take control over the last two weeks.

There had been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Conte in north London earlier in the year, however, Eccleshare feels the Italian will stay if the Lilywhites land fourth spot.

And if they do keep the 52-year-old in N17, Eccleshare believes a right wing-back, left-sided centre-back and a backup striker to Harry Kane will be the three main priorities for Conte:

“I think they will [invest], certainly if they get Champions League. There are a few positions they want to strengthen: left-sided central defender, right wing-back, they want to get support striker in as sort of backup for Kane, and a couple of more targets besides.”

TIF Thoughts on Eccleshare’s claim…

Given Spurs added Rodrigo Bentancur in the January window, we feel these are the three main areas Spurs need to improve ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Matt Doherty has recently claimed the right wing-back spot, however, with just a short run of form to his name and Emerson Royal failing to impress, a new addition could certainly be warranted.

Ben Davies has been in excellent form this season, so it may feel harsh for Spurs to replace him, but with links to the likes of Josko Gvardiol and Alessandro Bastoni, there are certainly upgrades to be had.

And, of course, Spurs are in desperate need of someone to help Kane with no senior striker besides
