Journalist: Moyes could now green-light West Ham summer exit for player he said is crucial

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Paul Brown of The Daily Star has made a West Ham United exit claim as manager David Moyes prepares for the transfer window.

After failing to bolster his ranks in January, manager Moyes, head of recruitment Rob Newman and owners GSB face what could be a potentially huge transfer window.

Much will hinder on West Ham’s ability to finish in the top four or mount a significant challenge for the Europa League with star players like Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen at the centre of potential exit rumours.

The Hammers qualifying for a Champions League place could also be significant in attracting their main transfer targets this summer as Moyes casts one eye on upgrading his squad for 2022/2023.

Bar Rice and Bowen, other players could also be set to leave, with Brown now making a claim on defender Ryan Fredericks’ future in east London.

Speaking to GMS, the Star reporter has said that Moyes could now be likely to green-light Fredericks’ exit from Rush Green this summer with the defender’s deal set to expire in June.

Indeed, Brown has claimed that the 29-year-old has ‘no future’ at West Ham beyond this season alongside fellow wing-back Arthur Masuaku.

He explained: “There are full backs at West Ham that have no future there, like Masuaku and Fredericks, so it wouldn’t surprise me for the two of those to go and West Ham to try and strengthen.”

Moyes has sufficient depth in the right-back position with Vladimir Coufal, the in-form Ben Johnson and promising youngster Harrison Ashby all coming as solid options.

Bearing this in mind, not renewing Fredericks’ contract and letting him leave as a free agent later this year could be the right move by West Ham as they seek to trim their squad.
