Journalist makes prediction on Djed Spence saga amid Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest interest

Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor believes Tottenham Hotspur will launch a £20m bid for Djed Spence’s services following his game against Slovenia last night, making this prediction to Give Me Sport.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from several top-flight sides in recent months including Arsenal, Manchester City and former Champions League winners Bayern Munich.

Tottenham Hotspur are the side that are thought to be leading the race for his signature at this stage despite still being tracked by former loan club Nottingham Forest, where he enjoyed great success during the 2021/22 campaign.

It has even been reported that the England youth international would prefer a move to Antonio Conte’s side, although they are not yet thought to be closing in on signing the Middlesbrough star despite previous reports.

In fact, the two clubs are yet to strike an agreement for his services and this could enable Forest to force their way back into the race with Steve Cooper’s side having an increased amount of funds to spend following their promotion to the Premier League.

However, reporter Taylor believes an imminent move from their top-tier rivals in north London may be on the horizon with Conte desperate to get this deal over the line.

He said: “My view is that once the final England Under-21s game is out of the way tonight (last night), Spurs will offer £20m.

“I reported just over a week ago, the previous Sunday, that Spurs were going to push ahead with it.

“That was the information that I had received, that he was one of the names Tottenham were looking at.”

The Verdict:

£20m would be a sizeable offer but it’s a fee Spurs will be able to spend and it may be worth it for the long term considering Spence is only 21
