Journalist issues good news on Derby County amid key takeover concern
Journalist Alan Nixon believes more money would be injected into Championship side Derby County if funds dried up before a takeover could be completed, taking to his Twitter to deliver this good news.
The Rams are still in the depths of administration after first entering this state back in September – but a preferred bidder in Chris Kirchner was named last week in what was a huge step forward for the Rams as they look to remain afloat financially.
Despite this important milestone being reached though, being in administration for so long has taken its toll with staff needing to be made redundant and players needed to be sold on in their bid to avoid liquidation.
Last month, the administrators were able to prove to the EFL that they would be able to fulfil remain fixtures in the 2021/22 campaign – though it’s currently unclear how much of a role Kamil Jozwiak’s move to the MLS played in that.
However, their future remains unclear past then with a takeover deal yet to the formally signed off and hurdles still to overcome before preferred bidder Kirchner can formally take control of the East Midlands outfit.
A rescue plan could be in place if the takeover isn’t wrapped up before the club runs out of capital though, according to reporter Nixon who was asked what would happen if that event occurred.
He said: “Needs to be that kind of time range (a takeover complete by the end of May) – but believe money would be put in if not.”
The Verdict:
This is good news and will certainly help to settle the nerves of those Derby supporters who are concerned about this issue – and it’s a valid concern too because a takeover process can take a considerable amount of time to get over the line.
It may be a bit premature – but the only thing
