Joshua KOs stand-in Helenius but boo boys make noise

A massive right hand by Anthony Joshua floored Robert Helenius in the seventh round at London's O2 Arena - but the Englishman's performance left more questions than answers with a potential Tyson Fury meeting in mind.

Before the spectacular finish, the crowd had voiced their displeasure with the fare as Joshua huffed and puffed against the plucky Finn who took the bout at a week's notice.

There would be no repeat of Helenius' first-round defeat to Deontay Wilder with the tentative opening stages.

Helenius initially came out swinging in round one but soon retreated and Joshua was happy to let the jab win him a tight opening three minutes.

A powerful right punch by Joshua landed midway through the second round, but the sold-out crowd booed at points of round three.

With little action occurring, whistles were followed by boos before Joshua connected with a left hook and then delivered a strong right punch to the face of Helenius later in the round.

Joshua did give the crowd what they came for in the seventh round with a thunderous right punch able to knock-out Helenius.

There was initially some concern for Helenius and Joshua left the ring to celebrate with the spectators in London, but his opponent was later able to sit up after becoming the 26th boxer to taste defeat to Joshua.

The sold-out were made to wait for Joshua after his compatriot Derek Chisora went the distance in his 10-round bout with fellow veteran Gerald Washington.

Chisora sustained a cut to his right eyebrow in the second round, but battled on despite blood regularly streaming down his face and ended victorious.

A few months shy of his 40th birthday and in his 47th fight, Chisora won for the 34th time by unanimous decision after the judges scored the contest 98-93,
