Josh Rock edges out Aspinall to reach last 16 at Ally Pally
Antrim's Josh Rock is through to the round of 16 at the World Darts Championship after knocking out tenth seed Nathan Aspinall 4-3 at the Alexandra Palace.
Rock burst out of the blocks with a 180 in the first leg on his way to taking the opening set 3-2. An out of sorts Aspinall, who would only end up with a 29% conversion rate on his doubles, steadied the ship somewhat as he took the next two sets.
But Rock hit back, winning the fourth in style, including an 11-dart leg, as he moved to the brink of victory. Suddenly Aspinall seemed to have found form, forcing a decider after whitewashing his 21-year-old opponent in the sixth.
But Rock wasn't to be denied, taking the decider 3-1 to advance to the fourth round where he'll face the winner of the Brendan Dolan and Jonny Clayton clash on Friday.
