Jose Mourinho was right about Scott McTominay at Man United - but he was ignored

Manchester United should have never sold Scott McTominay - Jose Mourinho was right all along. The 28-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Napoli, helping Antonio Conte's side mount a bid for the Serie A title with a Scudetto firmly in their sights.

McTominay, who was forced to depart Old Trafford this summer, has featured 28 times for Gli Azzurri in the Italian top-flight, scoring eight goals and providing five assists. Thanks to the Scotland international's contributions, Napoli are just three points behind the defending champions, Inter Milan, with six games to go.

Then, shortly after the former United striker added his own name to the scoresheet, McTominay put the final nail in the coffin. Despite showing signs of great promise in the final third at Old Trafford, key figures upstairs decided they would benefit more from 'pure profit' from his departure.

United raked in £25million for his signature and, yet, they've still not managed to replace him, despite forking out £78.5m on Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee. The club took McTominay for granted. Goals, leadership, physicality, passion and work-rate. Gone.
