Jose Mourinho fires Leicester City warning ahead of Roma semi-final as 'superior' claim made

Roma boss Jose Mourinho has sent Leicester City a warning ahead of their Europa Conference League semi-final, after the Italian side beat Bodo/Glimt 4-0 in front of a packed out Stadio Olimpico last night.

Brendan Rodgers' side will face Roma in the semi-final after their late comeback against PSV Eindhoven, thanks to goals from James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Rodgers has faced Mourinho on eight different occasions in his managerial career, taking just one win and tasting defeat in five of the fixtures. The Leicester boss will be hoping to add to his single victory against the former Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United boss, but will face a tough task.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Mourinho commented on his team's performance in the quarter-final and sent Leicester a warning ahead of their clash whilst doing so. He stated: "It’s frankly unacceptable we only managed to beat them [Bodo/Glimt] at the fourth attempt, but we play much better than people say.

“Being in the semi-final is the most important thing, but the way we played from the first minute with high press, intensity, quality playing out from the back, we all felt the game was ours even at 2-0.

“Even after the first leg when we lost 2-1, I always had the sensation we were superior. We are a stronger team, it is frankly unacceptable we only managed to beat this side at the fourth attempt, but it was the most important. It was 2-1 for them, it ended 5-2 for us. It’s fantastic, the people have this empathy and mutual passion with the team.
