Jordan Obita 'close' to Hibs transfer as Lee Johnson looks to land replacement left back

Jordan Obita is reportedly close to joining Hibs.

The defender is out of contract at Wycombe Wanderers and is set to head north of the border as Lee Johnson continues his recruitment ahead of the new season. Marijan Cabraja has returned to Croatia to sign for Rijeka, leaving Johnson in need of a further option at left back after club legend Lewis Stevenson penned a contract extension. And the Edinburgh Evening News now report that Obita is nearing a switch to Easter Road.

The 29-year-old held talks with the Chairboys over extending his stay at Adams Park. But they appear to have failed in their attempt to convince him to stay, with the lure of the Scottish Premiership proving too tempting. Hibs can also dangle the carrot of European football, with a Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie against either Faroese outfit Vikingur or Inter Club D'Escaldes to come next month.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Max Boruc is also set to sign on in Leith. Record Sport exclusively revealed earlier this week that the cousin of Celtic hero Artur Boruc was on his way to the capital to play backup to Davie Marshall next season.
