Jonny Evans is a reported Celtic transfer target - and Manchester United are helping him keep his fitness up for when his next club pick up the phone.

The experienced Northern Irish centre-back is a free agent after leaving Leicester City following their relegation to the Championship, and it was claimed that Rodgers was 'keen' on a reunion with his former Foxes leader while Everton rumours were shot down. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh, Yuki Kobayashi and Carl Starfelt are the recognised central defenders currently at Parkhead but the defender would add some experienced depth.

The Manchester Evening News claim Evans 'has been training with the team for the past week as he considers his options for the new season.' He came through the club's academy before leaving in 2015, eight years on from his debut.
