Jon Rahm wants Ryder Cup spot 'whatever the cost' as Europe vice captain makes deal prediction

Ryder Cup vice-captain Edoardo Molinari thinks a deal will be made for LIV Golf players Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton to play for Europe next year.

Rahm, who won The Masters last year, said he hopes for "some type of peace" in golf. PGA Tour leader Jay Monahan talked about good meetings in the Bahamas with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who is in charge of the Saudi money, and some top golfers, including Tiger Woods.

Rahm joined LIV Golf in December for a huge $600m and his Ryder Cup teammate Hatton did too. They can still play for Luke Donald's team at Bethpage Black because they haven't left the DP World Tour. But right now, they can only get into the team through the big tournaments and they might have to pay money and not play for a bit. But Molinari, who helped Europe win in Rome, said: "I think that in two years we will find a way to be able to pick them anyway.

"The only requirement at the moment is that they are members of the European Tour. I believe someone like Rahm, whatever the cost, wants to play the Ryder Cup. So I don't think he will resign from the European Tour," reports the Mirror.

But Molinari, who is not one of the top golfers right now and is playing in Singapore this week, said another big player said no to the money from Saudi Arabia. "I have always stayed living in Italy even at the cost of paying a bit more tax because I believe that there is a quality of life that doesn't have a price," the Italian told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Honestly I don't understand players who are 20 or 30 years old and risk throwing away their careers to go to LIV Golf.
