Johnnie Jackson makes admission over his Charlton Athletic future

Charlton Athletic boss Johnnie Jackson has told the South London Press that he wants further clarity over his future with the club.

The Addicks manager is currently under contract with the Sky Bet League One side until the end of the current season and is understandably keen to find out what the future holds for him past the summer.

It is understood that Charlton have the option to extend the deal by a further year depending on where the South London side finish in the league standings this term.

This is a fact that has left Jackson somewhat in limbo – a fact that is clearly irritating the rookie boss at present:

“We all need to have a little bit of certainty if I’m going to be involved on decision-making on players in the longer term.

“My own future will need addressing before too long.”

Jackson has certainly had a positive impact since taking on the job and will be focused on continuing to climb the table at a stage of the season where wins are crucial.

The Addicks are in 13th place at the time of writing.

The Verdict

It will certainly be interesting to see what stance Thomas Sandgaard takes on Jackson come the end of the season as right now the manager’s future is very much up in the air.

He has certainly improved the way that the Addicks play but at the same time he will know that he is expected to finish in the top half of the table at the very least.

They certainly have the firepower to make a push for the play-offs but the games are starting to run out at this late stage of the campaign.

It could be too big an ask to achieve a top six finish this season.
