John Stones speaks on new role as Bayern Munich star makes Erling Haaland Man City prediction

Manchester City star John Stones has admitted that he did not expect to end up in midfield but is really enjoying the new challenge set by Pep Guardiola.

Eyebrows were raised recently when Stones was moved into the defensive midfield role by his manager following the success of Rico Lewis in that position. However, the former Everton man stole the show on Tuesday night as he put in a man-of-the-match performance during the 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich.

And Stones says he is enjoying the challenge of the new role Guardiola has handed him. In particular, the City star is relishing the opportunity of 'getting higher up the pitch' for his side.

Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies believes that Manchester City's star forward Erling Haaland is on his way to becoming 'a legend of the game'.

Haaland set up City's second goal and scored the third as the Blues trounced the Bundesliga giants 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night in the Champions League. Pep Guardiola's team now find themselves in a strong position to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition despite Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel claiming that his side are still in the tie.

For Davies and co, midweek was the eighth time they have faced Haaland who has scored six goals against them in that period. While Tuesday was the first time the Norwegian has been on the winning side, the Canadian was left in no doubt about the quality he possesses.
