John Lewis offer free lunches to workers in bid to attract 10,000 Christmas workers

John Lewis have announced they will offer all workers free lunches over the festive period as they attempt to attract 10,000 Christmas workers.

The retail giant revealed that the offer will apply to all their current workers, as well as new staff taken on during the busy build up to Christmas to ease the strain of the rising cost of living.

About 4,000 new seasonal workers will be recruited for the group’s 331 Waitrose shops, including supermarket assistants, night shift workers and delivery drivers. The group is also hiring about 2,000 temporary workers for its 34 John Lewis stores, including sales and merchandising roles.

The John Lewis Partnership (JLP) said the new positions will be advertised online through September and October, and that a further 4,000 roles across its supply chain will be filled through recruitment agencies.
