Hospital put in 'partial lockdown' as armed cops tackled man with 'bladed weapons' outside A&E

Hospital bosses said a 'partial lockdown' was in force as armed cops were scrambled to deal with a man with 'bladed weapons'. A suspect was arrested on suspicion of kidnap after the drama unfolded at Royal Oldham on Tuesday evening (August 30).

He is being quizzed by detectives this afternoon (Wednesday).

In a statement on Wednesday night, GMP confirmed the incident 'has been contained' and said there was no threat to the public. It followed an earlier incident at a property nearby.
