John Higgins targets double Celtic title party with Ange as meeting with boss fuels undying snooker dream

John Higgins says he's readier than ever to win a fifth World Championship - because he wants to join Ange Postecoglou for a Parkhead trophy party.

The Wizard of Wishaw has gone 12 years without lifting the biggest honour in snooker, the longest he has gone since his first crown back in 1998. Having lost the 2019 final, he didn't get past the second round in 2020 or 2021 but made the semi-finals last year and he's determined to go one - or two - better when the tournament kicks off next month.

A massive Celtic fan, Higgins is determined he can go on and win it and reckons Postecoglou, whose turnaround at his beloved Hoops has in many ways mirrored his own since his poor 2020/21 campaign, is one of the main inspirations behind that. Having paraded his last title at Celtic Park, he wants to take the trophy to Glasgow's east end in May for a potential double title party with the Australian and his team.

Higgins said: “Ange Postecoglou has been amazing for the club he has come in and everybody just loves him, so for as long as he stays at Celtic I think we can look forward to more games like the weekend for, hopefully, years to come.

“That’s maybe why I am feeling so good just now. It would be a dream to be able to go and parade another world championship at Celtic Park and meet big Ange, that would be an amazing feeling.”
