John Eustace sets Maxi Lopez first transfer mission as Paul Richardson makes key Birmingham City promises

Paul Richardson has confirmed contracts have been exchanged for him and Maxi Lopez to become the new owners of Birmingham City.

Blues fan Richardson and ex-Barcelona and AC Milan footballer Lopez have been waiting in the wings in case Laurence Bassini's takeover bid collapsed. Now, with Bassini out of the picture, Richardson and Lopez are closing in on a long-awaited takeover.

The duo arrived at St Andrew's this morning to discuss their takeover, where Richardson confirmed that contracts were exchanged on Saturday and the first instalment to Birmingham Sport Holdings (BSHL) was deposited on Monday. Richardson and Lopez are now expecting to be formally introduced as the club's new owners in within 'two or three weeks'.

John Eustace says last night's 1-0 defeat at Solihull Moors has highlighted Birmingham City’s deficiencies in front of goal. The head coach watched as his side peppered Moors’ defence in the second half, hitting the post twice and missing a host of good chances.
