John Cleary: Cork football has been missing these occasions
Cork manager John Cleary believes their last-gasp victory over Roscommon delivered a big shot in the arm for football in the county.
Substitute Kevin O'Donovan fisted an injury-time winner as Cork claimed a one-point win at Páirc Uí Chaoimh to progress to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals for the second successive year.
Cork saw a five-point advantage wiped out late on but with extra-time looming, Cleary's side worked the ball downfield to O’Donovan, whose point claimed the scalp of another Division One team.

"It looked like we were heading for home with ten minutes to go but there was a kick in Roscommon. They kicked some unbelievable points to bring it back level.
"Then it was going to be whichever team got that lucky break at the end. We worked it in, Kevin O’Donovan put the ball over the bar, they went down on the attack and we were lucky enough to hold out for.

"That can only be good for Cork football, which was in the doldrums for the last number of years. This hopefully is only the start. We're into a quarter-final now. We'll give it our best shot and see where that takes us."
Cork were on the receiving end of a one-sided defeat against Dublin in last year's All-Ireland quarter-finals but Cleary’s side are heading back to the capital in fine form with three wins from four games.
"We played Dublin there last year and coming down on the bus, it was a place they did want to get back to," he said.
