John Barnes makes Newcastle confession with strong warning on ‘unforgiving’ Prem

John Barnes insists he never doubted Newcastle would turn the corner under Eddie Howe but has urged the players not to take their feet off the gas.

The Magpies now sit 14th in the Premier League table and are seven points above the bottom three. It is thanks to a superb run of results which has seen the north-east outfit pick up 18 points from a possible 24. The Tynesiders looked dead and buried but five wins and three draws means they can now breathe a little easier.

And the former Newcastle winger was confident that there would be top-flight football at St James’ Park next term.
