Joel Matip slams Liverpool performance against Brighton in angry interview after 3-3 draw

Joel Matip was furious with Liverpool’s performance as Jurgen Klopp’s side were held to a 3-3 draw with Brighton at Anfield on Saturday.

The 31-year-old centre back played 90 minutes and was on the pitch for all three of Brighton’s goals.

Leandro Trossard scored twice to hand the visitors an unlikely 2-0 lead but Liverpool battled back to lead 3-2 following a double from Roberto Firmino and Adam Webster’s own goal.

Liverpool were close to achieving an unprecedented quadruple last term but missed out on the Premier League title by a single point on the final day and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid, settling for a domestic cup double.

‘It was better but we are still not happy with our performance, especially at home. We expect more from ourselves.

‘It’s great, even in not a good game for us, he [Roberto Firmino] scores. That’s
