Joe Root's unbeaten 78 steers Paarl Royals to victory over Pretoria Capitals
Englishman Joe Root scored an unbeaten 78 off 56 balls to help the Paarl Royals to an 11-run victory over Pretoria Capitals at a scorching Boland Park on Saturday.
The Royals posted 140/4 in their 20 overs, before restricting the Pretoria side to 129/7.
Opener Root carried his bat while captain David Miller's unbeaten 29 off 15 balls also proved vital.
Will Jacks (56 off 53) and Kyle Verreynne (30 off 33) scored runs for the visitors.
Root also chipped in with two wickets (2 for 32) to earn the Player of the Match accolade.
Bjorn Fortuin (2/20) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2/17) also starred with the ball for the Royals.
