Joe Hart 'raging' over Sean Dyche throw of the dice but Celtic keeper gets pass from former boss

Former Burnley boss Sean Dyche has revealed he left Joe Hart "raging" when he benched the veteran stopper for Burnley in 2018.

Now reviving his career at Celtic, Hart had a a tough couple of years prior to his move north of the border. At one stage he was the Clarets' third-choice stopper, with Dyche dropping him after a 5-1 Boxing Day defeat to Everton that proved to be his final Premier League game to date.

He didn't feature in the league for the Turf Moor side for the next 18 months and went on to spend a season as backup for Spurs, before Ange Postecoglou swooped to bring him to Parkhead - where he has since made more appearances than he did for Burnley and Tottenham combined. It was Dyche who put the wheels in motion for the end of his career in England and he revealed Hart was left livid when he decided to drop him for Tom Heaton.

Speaking on Ben Foster's Fozcast he said: "Joe Hart, by the way. Joe's took some heat I'll tell you, but he was a fantastic operator for us. Brilliant. His manner was excellent. In the end, he was in an unfortunate position. He was playing great for us you know, but we were struggling like mad and the only thing I hadn't changed was the keeper.

"I said to him 'Joe, look, you're the only thing I haven't changed', and he was raging and obviously rightly so! But I went 'Joe, it's my job, it's to make decisions.' I put Tom back in, and Joe was obviously thinking 'oh brilliant' - but great operator. But we had Heats, Nick and Joe - that's a good three."
