Joao Felix can give Pep Guardiola a Man City transfer dilemma with Atletico audition

Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix is one of the hottest footballing prospects in the world. Still just 22 years of age, the Portugal international was highly touted at Benfica before making the switch to the Spanish capital for a fee north of £100million in 2019.

The striker has scored 10 goals and recorded six assists in 33 appearances for the Spanish champions this season, playing in all but two of their Champions League fixtures this term. Felix played 81 minutes of the quarter-final first leg against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and is a player who has been linked with the club in the past.

It has been previously reported that Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Felix, and he could yet have a say in the Champions League tie between the two sides, with the second leg set to be played at the Wanda Metropolitano tomorrow evening. The Portuguese attacker scored in Atletico’s home tie in the previous round, helping Diego Simeone’s side eliminate Manchester United.

While the 22-year-old’s finishing is impressive, it is perhaps his creativity that has seen him touted as a perfect addition to the City’s squad. While often starting in a centre-forward position, Felix has also been deployed by Simeone as a second striker on many occasions this term.

The attacker has been used as a centre-forward 15 times and has made 13 appearances as a second striker. Last season, he played far more games (29) than he did as the central striker (6).
