Jet2 flight to Tenerife makes emergency landing at Manchester Airport

A flight from East Midlands Airport to Tenerife made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport, the Manchester Evening News understands. Jet2 flight LS633 was scheduled to depart from East Midlands Airport at 9am today (February 6).

It should have landed at Tenerife South Airport at 1.30pm. Flight trackers show the flight departed on time, heading west towards Ireland before flying south-west in the direction of the island. But after passing Ireland, the flight turned around.

It then headed back over Ireland before turning east, to fly towards Manchester. A source at Manchester Airport confirmed the flight's arrival.

The Jet2 flight was seen circling above the St Helens area before eventually making its way towards Manchester Airport. The flight landed in Manchester at 11.25am, according to the online tracker FlightAware.

There have been unconfirmed reports that the flight suffered a cracked windscreen before being forced to land in Manchester. Jet2 says it was forced to land the flight due to a 'technical issue'.

A Jet2 spokesperson said: “We can confirm that flight LS633 from East Midlands to Tenerife South diverted to Manchester Airport earlier today, due to a technical issue. At no point was safety compromised, and the aircraft landed as normal before customers were transferred onto a replacement aircraft.

"We would like to apologise to customers for the delay.”
