Jet2 flight to Manchester diverts due to 'member of flight deck feeling unwell'

A Jet2 flight to Manchester Airport diverted due to a 'member of the flight deck feeling unwell'.

The flight from Bodrum last night (September 27) had to land in Brussels mid-journey due to the medical emergency. In a text seen by the Manchester Evening News , the airline told passengers there had been a 'serious medical situation'.

Flight trackers showed the LS984 aircraft landing in the Belgian capital. A spokesperson for Jet2 has now confirmed that it was a member of the flight deck who had fallen unwell.

The airline said the flight had to divert as a 'precautionary measure' and apologised to passengers who were affected by the delay. Shannon, from Northern Moor, was on the flight heading home with her two-year-old daughter.

"There was about five ambulances, fire engines and a police car waiting. We landed and got taken into the airport but we've had no information, there's people with young children and people in wheelchairs here.

"They said it was an emergency medical incident. There's been no communication and we feel like we've been dragged from pillar to post.

"We weren't able to get our bags from the plane so I haven't even been able to get more nappies for my daughter."

A flight from Brussels back to Manchester was due to leave at around 9am this morning. A replacement crew had to be called in.

A Jet 2 spokesperson said: “Flight LS984 from Bodrum to Manchester diverted to Brussels Airport as a precautionary
