Jet2 customers issued message over 2024 holiday prices
Jet2, the tour operator and airline that flies out of Manchester Airport, has issued some good news to customers, indicating that the post-pandemic surge in holiday prices is starting to soften ahead of the summer season.
The company noted that while there has been "a modest increase" in the cost of trips booked for the upcoming summer compared to last year, prices have recently become "more competitive" for certain dates in late spring and early summer.
In a recent trading update, Jet2 revealed that bookings for package holidays and flight-only options have increased by 13 per cent and 18 per cent respectively for the summer period compared to this time last year. This news will likely bring hope to consumers that the rise in holiday prices may not be as steep this year as it was last year.

Back in November, Jet2 reported an average price increase of 11 per cent for its trips, while some airlines reported price hikes of up to 26 per cent last summer. Russ Mould, an analyst at AJ Bell, commented: "This could be a sign that the pricing power enjoyed by the sector, with people prepared to pay whatever it takes to get their week in the sun, is starting to ease."
However, Jet2's shares dropped by 5 per cent in Wednesday morning trading following the company's comments on pricing. Despite this, the group reported strong demand for the peak season, revealing that it has already sold over half of its plane tickets and package holidays for the summer season.
