Jesse Lingard victim of £100k burglary as thieves target Manchester United star's house

Jesse Lingard has become the latest Manchester United player to become a victim of a home burglary.

It was initially reported by The Sun on Saturday morning that Lingard's home in Hale, Greater Manchester, was targeted while United drew 2-2 with Aston Villa in January. The thieves are believed that have stolen more than £100,000 of clothes and jewellery from Lingard, who was at Villa Park on the night.

It is understood the gang escaped with the goods before security was alerted. Lingard is said to have placed his property on the market following the burglary and the incident, as confirmed by a source close to the player.

The Manchester Evening News have contacted Manchester United for comment on the incident.

The burglary at Lingard's property is understood to have happened just four days before the break-in at Victor Lindelof's family home — where Lindelof's wife and young children were left terrified when burglars broke into their property as United played Brentford.

The Sweden international's wife Maja and their kids, including a three-year-old boy, locked themselves in a room during the "traumatic and scary" ordeal. She took to social media to confirm the raid at their Manchester home while the defender was playing.

United are said to be reviewing their security arrangements for players after the incidents involving Lingard and Lindelof.
