Jesse Lingard tells Manchester United what to do after Liverpool defeat

Jesse Lingard has demanded Manchester United to 'regroup fast' following their defeat to Liverpool, with another two massive matches on the horizon. United were thoroughly beaten by Jurgen Klopp's side on Tuesday evening, as goals from Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and a brace from Mohamed Salah secured a comfortable 4-0 win.

The defeat dealt another blow to United's faint hopes of a top-four finish this season, but they have an immediate chance to bounce back when they travel to face Arsenal this weekend, before hosting Chelsea at Old Trafford next midweek.

Victory in both of those matches would put United right back in the mix for Champions League qualification, and Lingard insists that must be the motivation for his side this week. "We've got a big game coming up. We've got to regroup fast this week, it's a big three points on Saturday," Lingard told MUTV.

"It's another free hit and we'll go there with the mindset of winning, staying on the front foot, being intense, doing the basics and having that energy to go and win the game. We need to work hard first before you can start playing. Win your individual battles and then you'll win the game hopefully.

"We'll work hard throughout this week. However we train reflects how we play, so we can increase the energy and intensity in training to help that."

Lingard started as a substitute at Anfield but was thrown into the match after only 10 minutes when teammate Paul Pogba limped off through injury.

It might not have been the ideal time for the English playmaker to come onto the pitch, but he insists he will be ready to play whenever called upon by the club.
