Jesse Lingard's House Up For Sale Following Break In
Jesse Lingard became the latest in a long line of football players to have their house broken into when they were at a game, whilst playing for Manchester United in January.
It has been a trend over the years for players to have their properties broken into when they are playing during evening kick offs, with many of the incidents happening in the north west of England.
He returned home to find that the 'Away day robbers' had taken £100,000 of clothes and jewellery from his home, in Hale, Greater Manchester.
The robbers managed to get away from the 29-year-old's £3 million property and, according to the report, he has since put it up for sale.
Speaking to the Sun, a source close to the player said, "He was really upset to find out he had been targeted.
"The items which were stolen are replaceable, but it’s very invasive for him to have someone break into his home, especially as he is a father.
“He has stepped up security since the robbery and is reviewing how his home is protected when he is away from it.”
Earlier in the year it was reported that, following a number of recent break ins, Premier League players were turning to private security firms to help them out on game days.
The City man had all the jewelry taken from his house and it left him and his family, who were also in the house, distressed from the incident.
Lingard's teammate Victor Lindelof had his house broken into just four days after the midfielder's property was robbed, with the defender's wife and kids hiding in the house as it happened.
Maja Nilsson Lindelof and her children flew home to Sweden following the incident and the former Benfica player later joined them, missing a game with West Ham United.
