Jerry Jones: ESPN analyst slams Cowboys owner's comments on Rush and Prescott

Jerry Jones’ comments about the quarterback situation between Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush for the Dallas Cowboys has left ESPN analyst Ryan Clark riled up. 

The Dallas Cowboys are in a bit of a sticky situation right now as it pertains to the quarterback position. With starting quarterback Dak Prescott having suffered an injury to his hand during the first week of the NFL season, they had to rely on backup Cooper Rush to take over the role.

It could have gone very badly for them, as they were taking on the defending AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals, but Rush managed to hold his own during the game, he went 19-31 and threw for 235 yards as the Cowboys managed to come away with a 20-17 victory following Brett Maher’s field goal as time expired.

So he did exactly what you would hope for a backup to do in that situation, guide your team through, not make any mistakes and pick up a win whilst your starting quarterback is on the sidelines, knowing that as soon as he gets back from being injured, the natural order will be restored.

However, that isn’t how Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sees things playing out, he is hoping for something a little different. 

Speaking to reporters recently (quoted by ESPN), Jones spoke about what the Cowboys are going to look like in the next couple of weeks whilst Prescott is out injured, and that he would welcome a ‘quarterback controversy’ (in this case, deciding whether or not to put Prescott in straight away or to go with the ‘hot hand’ of Rush), because it would mean that the Cowboys are still picking up wins:
