Jermaine Jenas sacked by BBC for 'inappropriate behaviour' as Match of the Day and The One Show host dismissed

Jermaine Jenas has been dismissed by the BBC following the after accusations of inappropriate behaviour.

Jenas had been a longstanding host of two of the broadcasters flagship shows, The One Show and Match of the Day. But The Sun report that upon receiving complaints about Jenas's conduct, the BBC instituted an internal probe and phased him out from its channels. It was later revealed that post-investigation, his contract with the broadcaster was terminated.

The BBC's new Director of Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, is believed to have played a significant role in this entire process. There's speculation that Jenas may not return to the BBC. It's also suggested that Jenas has split from his long-standing agents, MC Saatchi, due to the crisis. It's understood that Jenas has engaged lawyers in an attempt to vindicate himself.

It's unclear whether TNT is aware of Jenas' departure from the BBC or the reason behind it.

Jenas' departure follows the BBC governing board's announcement of an independent review into the broadcaster's workplace culture. The board expressed: "We remain concerned about the potential for inappropriate workplace behaviour, particularly in creative and editorial environments.

"While challenges related to power imbalances in the workplace are a challenge for multiple employers, the BBC must hold itself to the highest standards. The BBC has clearly articulated Values and a strong Code of Conduct and there has been much progress in recent years.

"However, the Board will commission an independent review that will make recommendations on practical steps that could strengthen a workplace culture in line with BBC Values."
