Jeremie Frimpong ramps value up AGAIN as Celtic cash in holds fire but Leverkusen trump card is music to their ears

Jeremie Frimpong is set to cost the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid even more - with a new deal at Bayer Leverkusen imminent.

The Dutch right-back has been one of the best in his position in the Bundesliga over the last 18 months and was heavily linked with a mega move away in the summer. That didn't come to pass though and Frimpong, who signed a four-year deal when he joined from Celtic in 2021, is beginning to peer over the end of his existing contract.

His existing terms are up in 2025 and that tees up a nervy summer for Leverkusen if he enters the final year on his contract come July. But according to Fabrizio Romano, they've moved to secure their investment. The transfer guru says it's now a "matter of time" before he pens new terms and that's set to rocket up his value - good news for Leverkusen and Celtic but not so for the teams who want to sign him.

Arsenal have also been linked with Frimpong but his price tag, which Leverkusen rated at £45m for a player who has scored or assisted 36 goals and counting for them, was too hot to handle. And now it looks set to shoot up even further for the 22-year-old.

Celtic will take home 30 per cent of what Leverkusen rake in and it means even more return on the paltry £250,000 they signed him for from Manchester City. They already banked a hefty profit on that when they sold him to Bayer for £11m but it looks like the windfall won't end there.
