Jeff Hardy arrest: Matt Hardy & AEW release statements

Matt Hardy and All Elite Wrestling have both released statements following the recent arrest of Jeff Hardy.

The 44-year-old faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and also driving while his licence was revoked.

Police stopped the former WWE champion after Florida Highway Patrol received phone calls about an impaired driver in Orlando.

It’s the latest blow for Hardy, who has struggled in recent years with this being his third DUI arrest in the last three years.

He made his AEW debut back in March when he came to the rescue of his brother Matt.

Speaking of Matt, he has unsurprisingly offered his support as he took to Twitter yesterday following the news.

He tweeted: “It was disheartening to hear the news about my brother yesterday.

“Recovery isn’t a linear process & I’ll continue doing whatever I can to help my brother be healthy.

“Being healthy & well is the most important thing for Jeff, his wife, his children & our family at this time.”

Jeff and Matt were both due to take part in Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. The duo are known as The Hardy Boyz and they were scheduled to face The Young Bucks and Jurassic Express.

However, Jeff will no longer be on the show after being suspended by the company.

Tony Khan, who is also the co-owner of Fulham FC, released a statement yesterday regarding the situation.

He said: “We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon.

“AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behaviour. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving.
