Jed Wallace delivers his verdict on potentially historic derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City

Swansea City have the chance to become the first team in the history of the South Wales derby to do the double over the other club when they travel to Cardiff City tomorrow afternoon.

Steve Morison has steadied the ship very effectively in the Welsh capital and was rewarded with a contract in the job until the end of next season.

Russell Martin has been making gradual progress with his bold style of play at Swansea all season, with one of their more memorable performances coming in a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture.

Former Millwall team-mate of Steve Morison, Jed Wallace gave his thoughts on the enticing encounter when he appeared on The Totally Football League Show.

He said: “It’ll be a big game for Morro (Steve Morison), what a great job he’s done to turn them around.

“He’ll be fancying their chances, it’s a clash of styles, one team in Swansea, pass, pass, pass – it’s ridiculous.

“Obviously, Cardiff have tried to be a little bit more possession based under Morro, but they have that power up front in Ikpeazu and Hugill.

“So that will be an interesting game.”

The pressure is on the Bluebirds on their home patch, but you can be sure that Morison will fire his players up despite having very little to play for in the league.

The Verdict

When they are fully firing, the Swans are very difficult to play against, but if they can continue to be as clinical as they have been of late, the Bluebirds should yield a positive result and avoid the visitors taking long term bragging rights away from the capital.

This is a very different challenge for Martin’s men from the one that got the better of Mick McCarthy’s side so easily earlier on in the season.
