Jay Slater’s dad questions Tenerife police theory over son's tragic disappearance

The heartbroken father of Jay Slater has questioned Spanish investigators' theory over his son's disappearance in Tenerife.

Posting on TikTok, Warren has recdently begun sharing new footage of the investigation on the Spanish holiday island. Jay, an apprentice bricklayer, from Oswaldtwistle, disappeared on June 17 after a night out at a festival.

A huge manhunt was launched, which saw teams of police and volunteers combing the steep terrain where Jay’s phone last pinged a signal. He had been staying for the night in the village of Masca with two men he met at the festival, some 45 kilometres away from his accommodation in Los Cristianos. Having missed his bus, he told friend Lucy Mae Law that his phone was on 1% battery and he intended to walk the distance on foot.

His body was eventually found in a ravine in Rural de Teno park almost a month later, with a post-mortem finding that he died of head injuries, consistent with a fall from a height.

Jay’s family including his mother Debbie and father Warren had flown to the Spanish island to help in the search. In the last week, Warren has begun posting previously unseen videos and photos of the search process.

One video was a slideshow of photos and videos, showing treks through the rocky hillsides of Rural De Teno park, fields of cactuses and glimpses inside abandoned buildings – set to techno track Insomnia by Faithless.

The slideshow also featured a photo of a set of keys, thought to be Jay’s lost apartment keys, but in fact belonging to TikTok sleuth Paul Arnott, also known as Down the Rapids, who travelled to the island to take part in the investigation.
