Jason Quigley set for first fight on Irish soil since going pro

Jason Quigley will fight on Irish soil for the first time since turning professional when he headlines a National Stadium card in April.

The Donegal middleweight, whose pro record stands at 19 wins and two losses, has largely fought in the United States since going pro in 2014 when he signed with Golden Boy Promotions.

The 31-year-old's last fight at the National Stadium came during his medal-laden amateur career, when he defeated Rachid Hamani.

That decade-long hiatus since last fighting on home soil will now come to an end on 1 April against a yet to be confirmed opponent in the show hosted by Elite Sheer.

"I'm ready for the return," Quigley said.

"It’s great to be back in the frame of mind of having a fight again and having the focus and purpose of a fight coming up.

"I’ve had a lot of time off and done a lot of thinking. I’ve always stayed in shape. I love keeping fit and I think I always knew it was only a matter of time before I’d be back.

"I had to make sure that it was done right and I wasn’t just going to go back in there for the sake of it."

The Ballybofey native's last fight was in November 2021. It ended in a second-round stoppage defeat to American Demetrius Andrade in New Hampshire with the WBO middleweight title on the line.
