Jason Doherty back for Mayo after two-and-a-half-year absence

Jason Doherty will make his first appearance for Mayo in two and a half years in Sunday's Allianz Football League Division 1 clash against Donegal.

He suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Donegal in Mayo's Super 8s win back in August 2019.

It was a desperate blow for the player and county at the time, but 32-year-old forward Doherty - who tore the ACL in his other knee in October 2020 - is set to reappear at at Markievicz Park.

Nine of the players that started last year's All-Ireland SFC final against Tyrone are in the first 15 for this weekend's game.

Eoghan McLaughlin and Conor O'Shea - brother of Aidan, who is on the bench - come into the side with Castlebar Mitchell's Donnacha McHugh making his league debut at center-back.

McLaughlin is joined on the team by his Westport GAA club mates Lee Keegan at corner-back and Fionn McDonagh at wing forward.

Oisin Mullin is not in the squad. He recently committed to Gaelic football for 2022 after turning down the chance to join AFL team Geelong.
