Jarrod Bowen has told Manchester United why Declan Rice has 'everything' they need

Jarrod Bowen has told Manchester United why Declan Rice would be their perfect signing, claiming the midfielder has “got everything you need”.

The West Ham star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, with United having retained an interest throughout the past year. Rice was identified as a priority signing for the Reds earlier in the season, with midfield set to be one of the areas addressed this summer.

There is doubt though whether United would be able to secure the 23-year-old’s services, with the Hammers slapping a hefty price tag on their prize asset amid interest from the Reds and Chelsea. Their attempts to tie Rice down to a longer contract though have reportedly failed.

That will almost certainly lead to speculation continuing throughout the summer. His West Ham team-mate Bowen, who has joined Rice on England duty this week, doesn’t believe talk of a potential transfer will be a distraction though.

Bowen, who has also been linked with a move away from the Hammers this summer after an impressive season, has insisted he wants to play alongside Rice again next season. The forward though hasn’t done much to ward off any interest in his team-mate.

“I don’t see it as a distraction, it goes to show the steps he’s made in the past two years since the Euros final,” Bowen said. “I think in the Euros, Dec showed what he was about and people started to understand him a bit more and how good he is - I see it in training.

“He’s gone onto another level and of course you want to play with the players at the highest level. I want to play with Dec at my club and the country as well.”
