Japan downs Turkey to set up semifinal showdown vs. Canada at women's curling worlds
Canada's Kerri Einarson will face Japan in semifinal action Saturday at the women's curling world championship in Calgary.
The Japanese rink advanced to the semifinal round with a 7-5 playoff win over Turkey earlier Saturday.
Meanwhile, Switzerland will take on Sweden in the other semifinal. The Swedes dispatched South Korea 9-5 in the second playoff contest.
Switzerland (11-1) and Canada (10-2) claimed the first two spots in the overall standings after pool play to to gain direct entry into the semifinals. The other four squads qualified for playoff action.
The medal games are Sunday.
