Jani Atanasov on Celtic transfer radar as Hajduk Split 'willing to sell' amid Parkhead interest

Hadjuk Split midfielder Jani Atanasov could reportedly join Celtic with the Croatian side willing to green light a deal with the Scottish Premiership champions.

The Parkhead scouts have been searching for a midfield enforcer all summer as they prepare for the Champions League group stage campaign, with Ange Postecoglou appearing keen on adding an anchor in the centre of the park as names like Mohammad Abu Fani and Vinicius Souza were tracked by the Hoops. Following the addition of free agent Aaron Mooy the search appeared to have cooled, however Atanasov has now emerged as a potential target.

The North Macedonia international has impressed in Croatia since joining the club from Bursaspor in 2020, having helped the side to a second place finish last term as they pushed Dinamo Zagreb for the title. The club are targeting the Europa Conference League group stage this term, with Atanasov coming off the bench in Thursday's first leg defeat to Villarreal.

Croatian outlet Germanijak have named Postecoglou's side as an interested party in the 22-year-old. Celtic will reportedly firm up their interest with an offer in the coming days.

Hadjuk are willing to sell the defensive-minder player "for the right price". as they await a former formal bid arriving from Glasgow's east end.
