Jamie Vardy injury latest ahead of PSV vs Leicester City Europa Conference League clash

Leicester City are having to play the waiting game over the potential availability of Jamie Vardy for the final games of the season.

The striker has missed the last seven games in all competitions with a knee injury sustained in his first start back after recovering from a hamstring problem. The two injuries mean that the 35-year-old has featured in just two of City's last 18 games in all competitions.

Both Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka have been standing in for the City's talisman in recent weeks. Iheanacho started the last two before Daka came back into the lineup for the weekend's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium.

City face what could be seen as their biggest game of the season on Thursday as they look to overcome PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-final of the Europa Conference League. The first leg at the King Power Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ahead of the weekend's game against Palace, Brendan Rodgers gave the latest on Vardy's injury amid pain in his MCL. The club are hoping for good news after more treatment this week.

“Jamie won’t be back,” he said about the game vs Palace. “He’s got a final injection on Tuesday and we’ll see what the reaction is to that.

“He can do a lot of fitness work but he’s not quite there on kicking the ball. We're hoping we get positive news on that.”

That update comes after the City boss revealed the extent of the problem ahead of the first leg against PSV last week. "It’s hard to put a timeline on it.
