Jamie Shaul

Hull FC are looking at the possibility of loaning out Jamie Shaul for the rest of the season. The fullback was left out of the Black and Whites side for the Hull KR and Wigan games and last played against Leeds Rhinos the week before.

With Shaul wanting regular game-time, a loan deal is now perhaps the best solution for both parties, with Hull also showing a more assertive approach to their business over the last year.

After a solid debut at Newcastle's St James Park, Leeds loanee Jack Walker is understood to be the preferred option to the number one position for the rest of the season, with Jake Connor also a matter of weeks away from a highly anticipated return.

Hull also have an option to make Walker's loan deal permanent, although there is a deadline approaching for that decision to be finalised. Whether or not they will exercise that option given the signing of Tex Hoy though is up for debate.

Hull Live understands Shaul is reluctant to move away from Hull FC permanently with a testimonial hoping to be granted for next year, but a loan move is a viable option with both Featherstone and Wakefield interested. The fullback is contracted at the Black and Whites until the end of the 2023 season, but the Championship high flyers have already made a move for the Hull-born number one.

Shaul made his Hull debut at Wakefield in 2013 and the bottom placed side are in need of some reinforcements to get out of trouble, with three consecutive wins for Toulouse steering them away from 12th spot.

The deadline for signing players for the rest of the 2022 season is next week, so both parties would have to move quickly if anything is to be materialised.
