Jamie McAllister agrees Hibs deal as Lee Johnson backroom rebuild continues

Jamie McAllister has agreed a deal to become Hibs assistant manager as Lee Johnson continues to finalise his backroom team.

The former Hearts, Aberdeen and Livingston defender worked as number two to Johnson in his previous jobs at Sunderland and Bristol City, where he was also a team mate of the new Easter Road boss.

Now the former Scotland international is heading back to Scottish football for the first time since he left Hearts in 2006.

McAllister will be confirmed along with the remainder of the Hibs backroom team when all positions have been filled with a new goalkeeping coach to replace Jon Busch still to be appointed.

David Gray is also set to remain in position as first team coach having taken the reins as interim boss twice last season following Jack Ross and Shaun Maloney’s sackings.

Johnson has already made two signings with veteran goalkeeper David Marshall joining from QPR and teenage defender Nonah Kenneh agreeing a three year deal after leaving Leeds United.

Aiden McGeady remains on Johnson’s radar having spent a year playing for him at Sunderland but a deal is still some way off with the former Celtic winger considering his options.

One player who won’t be heading to Hibs is Cole Stockton.

Reports elsewhere stated Johnson was lining up a move for the former Hearts striker who netted 26 times for Morecambe last season.

But Record Sport understands there is no interest from Easter Road.
