Jamie Carragher turns Celtic cheerleader as he swaps Steven Gerrard Rangers praise for 'brilliant' Ange Postecoglou

Impressed Jamie Carragher has hailed the impact of Ange Postecoglou at Celtic after being stunned by their derby day demolition job.

The Liverpool legend had become a familiar face for praising Rangers when his fellow Anfield icon Steven Gerrard was at the helm.

During their title winning campaign last term Carragher dubbed Gerrard "the new King of Scottish football", but the former Liverpool centre-back appears to be passing the crown to someone else.

Speaking to Optus Sport, the pundit talked up the impact of Postecoglou on the Scottish Premiership.

Carragher admits he was taken aback by the comfortable 3-0 victory for Celtic against their title rivals.

When asked if he was surprised if Postecoglou landed the Celtic Park job, he said: "It's difficult for Celtic and Rangers.

"They are huge institutions and football clubs, but the league doesn't have the financial rewards to entice the big-name coaches.

'The reason Rangers got Stevie Gerrard is because it was his first job, he wouldn't have gone if it was his third or fourth job.

“Obviously there’s always going to be a bit of scepticism – who is this guy (Postecoglou), we don’t know too much about him.

"But no, he’s done brilliantly
