Jamie Carragher sticks boot into Scotland during total Euro 2024 write off as he predicts group demolition

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has rubbished Scotland's chances at Euro 2024 - declaring they will finish rock bottom of their group.

Excitement is set to reach fever pitch across the country with just a month to go until our boys kick off the tournament against Germany in Munich’s Allianz Arena on June 14 with 200,000 members of the Tartan Army expected to follow Steve Clarke's men to the tournament. Clarke will have to navigate the hosts as well as Hungary and Switzerland if he is to make history and lead Scotland to the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time.

But former England international Carragher was having none of it - and he tipped Hungary to join Germany in the knockout round - before sticking the boot in and writing off our boys chances of even securing one of the four best third-placed nations. Speaking to The Telegraph, Carragher was quizzed on who he sees finishing at the summit of Group A.

The bullish Scouser replied: "I think Germany, being at home. I think Nagelsmann is a top manager and I think it was a mistake for Bayern Munich to get rid of him.

"The first game is against Scotland. That will be a great game and Scotland will bring the numbers over, but I actually see Hungary joining them.

"They have done well of late and the Liverpool (Dominik) Szoboszlai is there star man. He has had a really good season and I think he will have a really good tournament. I think Switzerland come next and Scotland come last."
