Jamie Carragher had Micah Richards and Thierry Henry in stitches during Liverpool sulk

Thierry Henry and Micah Richards were revelling in Jamie Carragher's tantrum as Liverpool threatened to throw away their Champions League semi-final.

The Reds took a 2-0 first-leg lead to Spain but by half-time Villarreal had levelled the tie thanks to goals from Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin . The hosts were very much in the ascendancy as they looked to cause a huge upset with Carragher visibly frustrated whilst on punditry duty, which greatly entertained his colleagues.

Henry and Richards were in hysterics as Carragher paced up and down in the CBS studio before Liverpool staged a second-half fightback. Goals from Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane eventually got the Reds over the line and they will play in a tenth Champions League final - a record for an English side.

It left Carragher with the last laugh as he later mocked Gary Neville on Twitter. He also urged Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, himself a huge Liverpool fan, to join the CBS punditry team at Paris' Stade de France for the final.

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his side and he, once again, referenced an old nickname following their come from behind success. He said: “Outstanding, massive – it feels like the first one because it’s always so special. I love it, the sound of it … the whole night. It feels so special because it was so difficult for us. Before the game, I told the boys I wanted the headlines to be the mentality monsters were in town.

"I wanted it from the first moment but the second half was like that. How we came back in the second half was so special. It was a top performance." Liverpool will now face either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the final with their second leg to come on Wednesday night.
