James Wilson set to snub Hearts for Leeds transfer as they see off Man United in 4 club race for wonderkid

Leeds United look set to beat off competition from Celtic, Rangers and Manchester United to land Hearts starlet James Wilson at the end of the season.

The Scotland Under 16s captain is regarded as one of the best prospects to have come out of Tynecastle for years and Hearts have offered him a three-year deal to stay in the capital. Both halves of the Old Firm officially expressed an interest in forward Wilson and the Old Trafford giants were credited with an interest in the youngster too in December. English Premier League clubs Fulham and Brighton were also keen.

But it's believed Leeds have stolen a march on them all with a financially-attractive offer and his family has been given a guided tour of the Yorkshire club's facilities. Hearts have reluctantly accepted they will lose Wilson, who captained Scotland in the Victory Shield and will receive around £120,000 in compensation.

Wilson will be the latest young Scot to move south after Rangers lost Rory Wilson last summer to Aston Villa and Celtic are set to see Aidan Borland move to the same club. And Villa also swooped last year for Hearts' Ewan Simpson and the Jambos received a six-figure compensation fee from the Birmingham club for the young midfielder.
