Liverpool have had a fantastic season winning two trophies but they will now head into the summer transfer window to strengthen and maintain their challenge for trophies. However, a new update has emerged that could cause problems.
Liverpool reporter for The Athletic James Pearce has revealed that Mohamed Salah would be interested in a move to another Premier League club next summer if he cannot reach an agreement with the Reds in the last 12 months of his contract.
Pearce took to Twitter this morning in regards to Salah’s contract negotiations: “Unless he receives a significantly improved offer he intends to leave on a free transfer in 2023 and would look to stay in the PL.”
Pearce followed up his tweet in an article for The Athletic further detailing that the Egyptian winger wants a significantly improved offer to be tabled in order for him to remain at the Merseyside club beyond June 2023.
Salah has been arguably one of the best players in the Premier League in his time at Liverpool, so surely if he was to make a move to another club in the league it would be to a club that can compete for trophies and league positions with the Reds, which would a shocking prospect for supporters who regard the player as a club legend for his services.
The 29-year-old has scored 156 goals and contributed 63 assists over the last five years at the club, winning three Premier League golden boots, a Champions League, a Premier League title, an FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
Thus, to lose him let alone lose him to another club in the league would be a disaster for Liverpool.
